Dear Catalyst,
It is with great sadness that I announce the dissolution of the guild.
Over the years as GM, I came across many people who started off as
guildies who have become what I consider genuine friends. It is these
relationships that make the guild so special. Catalyst exists because
of the camaraderie we develop and using our combined skills to do what
it is we choose to accomplish night in and night out.Catalyst is not just a guild to me. Raesa, Runic, the guild's officer
core, and myself have dedicated the past three and a half years of our
lives to the success of the guild. Throughout the years, I have truly
considered Catalyst my home. I've watched the kids (Taihaku,
Barralai, and Ezulei) grow from their awkward teenage phases to
soon-to-be college attendees and college graduates. I've seen guildies
get married and have a kid (Arcturia, Mindgames, Impyre, and Mongroid
to name a few.)It is time for us to move on as well. The guild founders have reached
a point in our lives where our dedication to the game isn't where it
used to be. To continue with the guild where we may not put our best
foot forward would only soil the name of Catalyst and what it
represents.Any decent GM who cares about their guild will tell you it is a lot of
work. I am thankful enough to say that I had an amazing supporting
cast. I would like to thank:Kyle (Vaire/Celebrian) for sticking it out with us since day one. I
hope being around us has made you less pessimistic.Steve (Bilindra/Madrakia) - the senior member. You know, you don't
play that bad for an old guy. If I ever get in trouble with the law,
I'll come to you for help.Pete (Scarto) for being so helpful in leading and being a great
friend. You live close enough so we can grab a drink whenever.Katie (Ezulei) for your help and assistance in facilitating the needs
of the guild. And to all Catalyst members, old and new, thank you all for making it
a privilege to be the GM of Catalyst.I wish you all the best in all your future endeavors, inside the world
of Azeroth and out. And for the last time: "Going in after my Gift
of Naaru."-Sho (Gaar)

Thanks to everyone who participated in our celebration festivities! :)Prizes available: Celestial Steed, Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, Twilight Drake
First place will get first pick of the 3 prizes. Second place will get his/her pick out of the 2 remaining prizes. Third place gets the mount left. Alternatives will be substituted if the remaining winners already have the mounts available to them.
Event 1: Death Run
Starting Location: Coldridge Valley
Ending Location: Menethil Harbor Inn
Time Limit: 45 minutes
Everyone must create a gnome (gasp!) to make the death run. Any class you want but you cannot equip any kind of armor. You must make the run with what you have from the gnome itself. No leveling beforehand.
You cannot ask for help from other people!
You cannot use spirit rezzing!
You cannot use Blink if you decide to make a mage!
Your name must be your main's name beginning with an x and ending with an x. So I would be:
Xraesax
People will be awarded points in the order that they arrive at the inn.
1st: 10 points
2nd: 7 points
3rd: 5 points
Everyone who makes it before the time limit will get 2 points.
Everyone who does not make it before the time limit will get 1 point.
Event 2: Scavenger Hunt
Time Limit: 1 hour
For this event, everyone has 1 hour to gather items from the following list. Each item awards different points based on its rarity with a max number of items allowed (so you can't spend the hour farming up 20 of something that rewards 5 points).
- Righteous Orb: 6 points each, max of 1
- Zul'Gurub Hakkari Bijou: 6 points each, max of 1 (any type of bijou)
- Defias armor: 3 points each, max of 5 (any pieces of the Defias armor set will count, repeated items will count)
- Corpsemaker: 3 points, max of 1 (you can only have 1!)
- Any item from Archmage Arugal in SFK: 6 points each, max of 1
After the duration of the hunt is up, everyone will need to bring their items to the hidden GM for tallying! Hint: Probity will be somewhere in Outland.
Event 3: Catalyst Trivia Game Show
Location: Beer Garden in Dalaran
Time: Until all questions are asked.
Everyone must make a macro:
/y Buzz! Buzz!
Everyone will be seated in the Beer Garden with the above macro made ready to buzz in to answer trivia questions read by the host.
You cannot buzz until the entire question has been asked.
The first person will who buzzes in will answer first. If the first person gets it wrong, then we will go down the list in the chatlog in order of people buzzing in first.
Every right answer is 3 points. There will be 15 questions.
Point total available from the trivia will be 45 points.
Event 4: OS3d 25m
After all of the points are tallied and our winners pick their prizes, the guild will enter the Obsidian Sanctum to get the winner who picked the Twilight Drake his/her mount, if we have enough people to actually do the fight successfully.
Winners' prizes and door prizes will be given out at the end of the festivities.
======
Congratulations to the winners! Video and screenshots to come!

When Catalyst was formed on May 15th back in 2007, we were well exposed to the story of the Frozen Throne from playing Warcraft 3. Throughout TBC, we knew we would ultimately face the Lich King one day and therein lay our goal. We didn't know how far away that day was going to be but we knew it would happen. This kill couldn't have been timed better, four days short of our 3-year anniversary!Congratulations to everyone who got their 25m Lich King kill.Thank you to our guildies who stuck with us through the kills, the wipes, the highs, and the lows. There would be no Catalyst without all of you. Thank you for keeping us alive and kickin' for the last 3 years.Cheers to all the memories we've made and all the ones to come!

Plague, Blood, and Frost wings all cleared on heroic 10-man! Next up, Glory of the Icecrown Raider and Bane of the Fallen King!Took us 7 tries to get this down. Figured we'd go waste 3 attempts on Putricide so we would have an even 35 attempts left before we went back in on Sunday to put in some serious attempts. Our pre-Putricide prep consisted of:"Uh, so what's different?""I think he spawns both the ooze and the cloud at the same time and there's no tear gas during transition."Gaar: Let's just do the first attempt since it's a wipe anyway. We'll figure it out after. Pulling.ONE-SHOT!
